Perform Routine Database Maintenance job?

The NCM has a job you can create called Perform Routine Database Maintenance job. However, there is nothing in the NCM documentation that says what this does. Can someone explain?

Any update on this? I used to have a hand-made job that would do the maintenance, but that has been failing for months.

Hi,

Since NCM 7.1, there have been two maintenance jobs:

Purge old configs
Database maintenance

When you click on 'Help me choose', it gives a bit more info:
