F5 configuration backup issue

We have bought new F5 version 11.x And Now i want to take backups of running config using NCM tool. I have followed lots of threads and many people using it. but some how that method doesn't working for me. I have download template and import in NCM. Now i am validating template and getting following error "Validation failed" also i don't know where do i put username/password etc.. Please help me if i am doing wrong..

Hi,

You must place the template in %SolarWindsInstallDirectory%\Orion\NCM\DeviceTypes.

It has nothing to do with Config Change Templates in your screenshot.

You mean say i don't need to import that right?

In my case path is following. I didn't find anything in path give by you.

C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Configuration Management\DeviceTypes

Now how do i add this template to node and where do i specify username/password to get configuration backup?

OK, so you copy the device template to the directory you listed above.

You can assign this template and specify device credentials either in NCM Web UI (NCM 7 and above) under Settings -> Manage Nodes -> you select the node -> Edit Properties -> NCM Properties at the bottom.

Or, you can do it in NCM Win32 GUI when you double click on a node.

That helps a lot and it works! It is using following command to take backup of F5. Just wondering that's all? How do i take backup of UCS file? do you have any idea?

tmsh -q show running-config
