Custom "Category" Property

I've got a custom property called "Category" for my nodes in both NPM and NCM. However I use them for different reasons. For example, I use WAN Sites, Power Equipment, Network Equipment, and Servers for NPM for inventory purposes. In NCM I get more specific such as Core Routers, Core Switches, Field Routers, Field Switches, etc. When I import nodes from NPM it copies the generic category. I normally have to go back and change this manually, but if I could re-think my categories and have it automatically fill that spot it would make my life easier.

I am just curious if anyone else uses a Category property and how they organize it.

Does anyone have any ideas to blend my specific categories in NCM with my generic categories in NPM?

I use quite a few custom properties similar to what you're using. I have one called "Node Type" for Access Switch, Core Switch, Remote Site Router...etc. I also have custom properties for city, state, floor, Cisco SmartNet #. I try to keep these types of properties the same in NPM & NCM for consistancy sake.

The Custom Property Editor tool is a HUGE time saver. It allows me to make mass property changes quickly. I understand what you're trying to do, but if at all possible, I would try to keep the properties the same in both apps.
