I am trying to create an application in SAM 6.2.3 that has multiple hosts, each of which have different components of the application running. Do I have to create the whole template and then enable/disable per node?
I've seen it done a few ways, some people prefer to just make the master application template and disable components on the servers where they don't apply, with this model you just have to make sure you go to each instance of the application and adjust it. Other people make multiple more specific templates, as in Solarwinds - DB, Solarwinds - Web, Solarwinds - Application, etc. I personally prefer not to make a lot of very fine grained templates if they become so specific that you wouldn't use them for any other box. The purpose of a template is a general starting point and I prefer to cut the individual instances of it down from there. There's not necessarily a right or wrong there, just up to your administrative preferences.

Might need more details the it's most likely not possible to have dynamic component monitors as described.
I don't know what is "HTE application".
"Application that has multiple nodes" ... one template can be assigned just to one node.
But using script monitors (eg. Windows Powershell monitor) you could do a lot of magic, the question is, if it is easy to maintain such template ...

Thanks for taking the time to respond. "hte" should have been the word "the" ... I never claimed to be a great typist
Thanks!
