APM source poller question

I have a requirement to gather performance metrics, especially for websites, from the point of view of a remote location. So for example, what is the response time of SharePoint site X in the US as seen from an office in India. If I installed a new polling server in India, assigned those US websites to a node in India which is monitored by that new poller, would the HTTP monitor be sourced by the India poller or the primary SLX machine where APM was installed? Basically, would the response time to the website be shown as 800ms (India) or 200ms(US)?

Anyone have another way to do this?

Hello,
if you assign application to a node that is assigned to poller in India and if you have correctly set "Polling Engine Mode" in "Admin->APM Settings->Data & Database Settings" to "Poller-Bound", then application (HTTP monitor) will be executed form poller in India and so response time should be measured from India.

Have you looked at our IP SLA module? You can run an HTTP operation from any remote site to another and response time is reported back to your Orion server. IP SLA Manager supports this exact use case, along with a number of other operation types (DNS, FTP, UDP Jitter, ICMP Echo, Path Echo, Path Jitter to name a few).
