I created a network atlas map ( threw it together for purpose of this post)
How would one go about finding out what device network atlas thinks there is in between my virtual servers and the blade switch?
Topology data is collected from each monitored device. From this we are able to determine that these devices are not connected to each other directly, and that some unmonitored device(s) must exist between them. As such we represent this on the map as an unmanaged node.
The object represented in the Network Atlas map is the network device/s that connect those nodes together. In this case the device/s are not managed by Network Performance Monitor (NPM). Hence why it is showing a phantom "unknown" object instead.
that I understand. But how does it know there is a device there? Where does it receive this information? I would assume from the switch so that means somewhere it should tell me what the device is. I just don't know where.
Thank you sir. I walked the switch found the mac in question and went from there. The device is onboard administrator.
