Changing subnets masks on many devices at once using NCM

I have a customer (Hjørring Municipality in Denmark) who would like to create a job/snippit in NCM to change their subnet mask on Cisco switches on all devices in their management vlan (10.4.1.0) and what would the implications be.

This would prevent the customer from having to create an address in another VLAN first to be able to change the management VLAN afterwards.

As soon as the command was entered and a CR, NCM would loose connectivity to the device. You would then need to go in and save the config. A little risky, but doable. As you stated I think creating a second VLAN IP (if possible) would be the safer way to go.

I haven't been in this particular situation but I've written and used plenty of script sets. Apply one script to everything then launch the next script. I don't see a difficulty in changing the mask, losing the connection as the port resets, then running a second script to write the change to memory.

You didn't mention changing the gateway address so I assume you're just expanding the address space but keeping the same gateway. The Cowardly Lion approach applies, of course. Test locally first! :-)
