Monitor ASA Traffic

i have a 10 Mb ethernet connection to the internet that is used for our internet access. since it is an ethernet handoff i don't have a router outside my firewall. is there any way to get usage information from this connection? i assume netflow is not an option since there isn't a router....but that is the type of data i'd like to get.....who is swamping the network and where are they going.....

You can use firegen to get traffic information from the ASA/PIX/Other logs.

You could also monitor/sniff the line with something like nProbe which can output netflow data to Orion NTA.

I'm not sure what kind of funding you have available to you, but lower-end routers (Cisco 1711's and such) also support Netflow. If you could pick up something like that (eBay?) you could just put it in front of your ASA and make that your default gateway. We did something similar here, putting it on an interface on our core router, setting up a /30 network between the router and the ASA and enabling Netflow on that port.

Just monitor the eithernet interface that is your handoff in solarwinds, and manually adjest the rate to 10MB>
