MapMaker issues
bleearg13
Hi all,
I've got an open case with SolarWinds about this issue, but wanted to bounce it off the forum because SW can't seem to reproduce the issue.
When using MapMaker to build maps, I try to use some of the custom Graphical icons, such as the Ethernet icon, the icon shows up properly in MapMaker, but on the Orion website, it shows up as a plain green dot. The maps are not being scaled at all, as this was one possible explanation.
Has anyone else seen this problem before? I can't imagine that I am the only one.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I am having the same problem. I am running Windows 2003, SQL 2000 Enterprise w/ SP3a, IIS 6, and Orion NPM v. 7.3. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, the fix was, after arguing with Solarwinds support for a week and a half, was to download an icon editor. The issue was that icons they are packaging with Orion (even the new ones) are messed up. By opening up the .ico file within an icon editor, clearing the icon file, then saving it, the problem was resolved. Funny thing is, this did not seem important enough to include as a fix on new versions of Orion, so when I upgraded, the new version overwrote all my modified icons. Now I'm back to step 1.
Here's the response I got from Solarwinds support on this issue several months ago:
"The icon files will have to be edited. In the meantime, you can avoid the problem, by editing the icon file and removing the small version of the icon. Axialis Software makes a nice icon editor called IconWorkshop. "

Looking through the SolarWinds website, I found the following Knowledge Base entry which may help you.
