Automating Node Unmanaged Status
rknight
Does anyone have a method for automatically unmanaging a Node from Orion Network Performance based on Time of Day?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Richard,
First let me start by saying NO I DON'T.
However, if I was going to attempt this I would do so by writing a job on my SQL server to do a SQL UPDATE against the Nodes table in Orion.
The syntax of the SQL statement would look something like this:
UPDATE Nodes
SET UnManaged=1 (This is a bit value which accepts 0 or 1, 1 being unmanaged)
WHERE NodeID=[NodeID you want to unmanage]
You would then run this job when you want the device to be unmanaged and run another job with SET UnManaged=0 to manage the device again.
I hope this makes sense (I am no SQL expert).
Be fantastic.

thanks... will try to hack around with this

This solution makes perfect sense, I actually tried it before coming to look here but it verifies what I did.
However it creates and issue with the UnManaged var being set to 1.
Has anyone gotten this to work? Has anyone done any database updates w/o shutting the services?

It looks like it is a combination of several columns that would need to be changed:
UNMANAGED MANAGED
UnManaged -1 0
UnManagedUntil Date/Time 12:00:00 AM
Status 9 1
StatusLED UnManaged.gif up.gif
StatusDescription Node status is Unmanaged. Node status is Up.
GroupStatus UnManaged.gif up.gif
These don't appear to change in concert with one another so they will all need to be set manually.
