Current Percent Utilization on Network Interfaces 0%...All the Time

I can use the Bandwidth Guage from the Toolset and see 300Mbps through my Gigabit switch interface but on Orion, that same switch interface reads 0% Transmit, 0% Receive (I would expect to see around 30%). I'm using the WAN killer to produce the 300Mbps. Even refreshed the Orion Node Details page for 5 minutes but it never changed.

In fact, I've closely monitored all of my interfaces for some time now (Monday through Friday this week) and none of them ever show above 0%. Why wouldn't this part of Orion reflect network activity?

Latest version of Orion, Engineer's Toolset, and all patches applied (squeaky clean fresh install in fact!!)

All I can think of is the interface settings for speed are not correct in Orion. I'd verify those values match what you really have. I've seen my own issue where Orion things the speed is one thing but it's really another.

That's a good thought...

System Manager --> Interface Details says "1000000000" which I believe is accurate for a Gigabit interface (billion bits)

I only have a couple of interfaces that run at 100Mbps and I can understand if the percentage of use is small it might not creep up to 1% but I threw 300Mbps at this thing for some time and it never changed. Also, I know throughout the day we have some major use on our network with file transfers to and from our file servers that can climb into the 100's of megabits per second for consistently long periods of time. None of this ever registers through Orion...but it sure as hell does through Bandwidth Monitor! Makes no sense to me.

It's cool though, I can't begin to wrap my head around it, but it's cool. Thanks!! Any other ideas?

Here's a few questions for the wizards out there....how does Orion display Current Percent Utilization? What is the delay in updates...60 seconds...5 minutes....15 minutes?

Current % is the value at the last time you polled. Default is 5 minutes put you change that. One other thought I is if you sent 300Mbps in 1 burst it is possible that Orion polled the interface before or after your test. If you verify your polling interval and can send that much data constantly then you should see it.
