Network Discovery: Difference between ports and interfaces

I'm slightly embarrassed to need to ask this, but it just occurred to me that I can't coherently answer this question, and I need to answer it for documentation purposes.

When running the Network Sonar Results Wizard, I am prompted, in two separate steps, to choose "Interfaces" and "Ports". What is the difference between the two? They seem basically the same.

Generally speaking, Interfaces are for NPM monitoring and Ports are for UDT.

Awesome, thanks! Does this mean a port can be monitored for UDT without monitoring the interface for statistics?

Absolutely. They have their own licensing requirements.

IIRC, only NPM and NTA are tied to each other.
