A question about Alert Suppression

I apologize if this has been asked before as I am new to the forum. I am unclear on Alert Suppression and I am looking for a little help. What I would like to do, and I think this is done with Alert Suppression, is configure Orion to suppress all alerts generated by nodes that would be, "Down," in the event of a main switch or router failure. For example, if I have a switch with 5 computers plugged into it and the switch goes down, I do not want to be notified that the 5 computers are down as well. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Suppress when:

NodeName equal to SwitchA

AND

Excellent, those links helped a lot. It makes a lot more sense now, so I'm going to start tweaking some settings to see if I can get it to do what I want to do.

Okay, so I have it configured to suppress alerts when the router at a remote site is down. This weekend, the router went down and I still got a bunch of alerts. Here's a screen of my config:

Did you check to make sure that the alert is not disabled on either the Basic Alerts tab or the Configure Alerts page?
