I added my Orion SQL server to AppInsight SQL monitoring but SAM is complaining about licenses. Here is what I see in SAM License Summary (I only have a 150 component monitor license for monitoring my Orion servers) Allowed Number of Component Monitors:150Total Number of Component Monitors:168 Licensed Component Monitors:118 Unlicensed Component Monitors:50Available Component Monitors:32 When I review the components status I see them all greyed out: Is this an all or nothing template, meaning I have to remove some other components to allow AppInsight to begin polling? Or does AppInsight require a separate license?

AppInsight licensing

I added my Orion SQL server to AppInsight SQL monitoring but SAM is complaining about licenses.

Here is what I see in SAM License Summary (I only have a 150 component monitor license for monitoring my Orion servers)

Correct. AppInsight applications cannot be partially unlicensed. They're an all or nothing affair due to the nature of how they collect data differs significantly from traditional application templates.

Thanks for the links to the licensing docs Bronx.
Once I freed up 50 licenses, I was still having issues monitoring all the components, until I found the docs on setting up an SQL account for AppInsight monitoring.

I had my DBA run the permissions script and all component monitors started working.

Now I am having issues with updating the status of the Top 10 Clustered Indexes by Fragmentation.

My DBA has run a job to re-index the NCM and IPAM DBs.

NCM looks much better now, but IPAM still shows no change.

It is still showing highly fragmented (%99 fragmented), even though she says it looks OK now using the DB tools.

How often does this info get polled and updated on the Orion page?

The AppInsight poller has finally caught up with the actual indices fragmentation data.

I did click the poll now button several times without effect. I guess this data does not get updated very often.

Index fragmentation is polled only once an hour by default and is not tied to the "Poll Now" button.
