Hi!

Just to verify how is APM licensed. 

Based on below out-of-the-box application monitors:

Application Monitor Type: Operating Systems

·         Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008

·         IBM AIX

·         HP-UX

·         Linux (Red Hat, SuSE, Ubuntu) – SSH compatibility required

·         Sun Solaris

·         UNIX

Is it by application monitor or by services running on let's say using the "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008"?  What do we really mean by "Component Monitors"?

Let's take MS Windows 2008 as an example...

There is a template called "Windows Server 2003-2008"

Within that template there are a number of "component" monitors, such as "Network Connections", "Page File Usage", "Disk Queue Length" and so on. In fact, this particular template has 8 components that it monitors. However, you can add and delete components as well as disable components.

Let's say that you decided to disable one of the components, leaving 7 enabled components. Now let's say you apply this template to 6 servers.

You have 6 servers, each of which has 7 components being monitored. Therefore, you are using 42 "component monitors". It is this figure that counts towards your licence usage; so if you had the smallest licence (50 component monitors) you have 8 more component monitors you can apply.
