Hi,
I would to verify on how to disable email alarm on any unused device/s on our Solarwinds NCM/NPM.
It depends on how you have your alarms setup. If you have custom property fields setup that your alerts trigger off of you can just blank the field out and then your done. You can always delete the nodes in question.
If you have a general email alert setup
To: General@yourdomain.com
for all nodes showing high ping response time > 500ms
then you need to either put a suppression in where it goes of specific node ID's.
The way we do it is I have a custom property email field. If I do not want to be notified on specific nodes but still monitor and record their statistical data I just blank out the custom property email field. I have all my reports and pages configured so that when I blank out that email field it will not alert, show up on reports, or on the general issue board on the website. If you wanted to see it then you have to know what it is to search for it in orion.
I've created an custom attribute called "Monitor" and set it to a True/False (Yes/No) option. Applied the appropriate setting to all my devices. Once that was finished, I added the variable check to all my rules. That allowed me to to keep the device listed but no alerts (e-mail) would be generated.
Let me know if you want a screenshot of a rule so you can see the config.
If you want me to double check the logic I would like to see a screenshot please. But if it appears to work then it should be fine.
