Is there a way to have an alert use a custom property for the "Do no trigger this action until condition exists for more than" value of an alert?
Yes, there is. Bottom of the trigger condition tab of a advanced alert.
All I get is a field to enter a number and a drop down to choose seconds, minutes, hours. How would I populate that with a custom node property?
I do believe that you have to set it on an alert by alert basis. When you create the advanced alert you set how long you want to wait until it alerts you on the bottom of the trigger condition page. Then up in the trigger conditions you choose your custom property. One of my basic advanced alerts is something like.
Node Status is equal to Down
Department is equal to (custom property)
(custom property)Tech alerting is equal to "yes"
This in conjunction with the delayed timer at the bottom gives my second line tech an alert if I have not fixed the problem in x ammount of time.
Beyond that I am not sure if you can set a custom property to the time you want and apply it to multiple alerts. I think that it is just set on an alert by alert basis.
Hi there,
i would like this feature too. I asked for it a year or so ago, but did not ever expect to see it arrive. the view was that eventually we would be able to put true SQL into the alert configuration but i am not sure that would get me what i want.
I would like to be able to have a custom property for number of minutes or seconds to be in alarm, it would answer a lot of my problems with having to add more and more alerts, making the product more and more complex...
