Hi all, on version 6.4 SAM Orion and trying to get the Real Time Process explorer working for Linux.
It works for Windows ok, but any Linux this option is missing.
My account permissions are setup as below on the SAM account, so looks ok.
Any ideas?
That is correct. The Real-Time Process Explorer and other similar functionality uses the Vendor type to ensure that these functions don't appear on nodes which they are not applicable. If you remove the node poller or install the Linux Agent on that machine, the Real-Time Process Explorer option will appear. Alternatively, you can create your own link to the RTPE which will completely override that logic. E

Hi Simon.
Just a quick sanity check: did process explorer work on a previous version for you and stop working after an upgrade?
Is this a node where process explorer worked before and not now?
Does it work on some nodes and not others?
Or is this a new installation and/or a new node?
You've probably already done all those troubleshooting steps but I thought I'd check first.
Hi Leon, this is a new installation of Solarwinds (a couple of months ago), we're now doing more advanced monitoring for the teams.
We've got a lot of Linux devices and I've now found some where the process explorer is available.
The only difference I'm seeing differences is the machine type - working is labelled net-snmp Linux. Not working is machine type Linux.
Regards
Simon
How is the node identified in Orion? E.G. What's the vendor type? A screenshot of the 'Node Details' resource for the node where this option isn't available would be very helpful.
Here is the Node information, both are polling via SNMP with the name community string.
Real Time explorer working - Machine type - net-snmp-Linux
This is on the box which is not working with RTE - Machine Type - Linux
Out of curiosity, How is the machine type being populated as 'Linux'? Do you have an Agent deployed on that machine?
Hi - no agents are installed, these Linux servers are setup with SNMP.
Hi Alterego
I think those devices are identified as Linux because there is a node details poller assigned to it.
