From everyones experience do I need any other ports open from my NPM server to my exchange server besides 25/TCP (SMTP) to have alerts etc. email from NPM to my exchange server???
If the Exchange server is accepting authenticated connections over port 25 then that should be all you need open. If the server is configured to only accept authenticated connections on another port such as 587 then you will have to open that port on your firewall and configure NPM to send using 587 instead of 25.
TCP/25 should be all you need open in order to send email from the NPM box. The Exchange server will also have to allow the NPM server to relay through it.
What about if the exchange server requires authentication? It's been a while since I had to deal with firewall rules to an excange server from a dmz. May have to just try it with TCP/25 from NPM server to Exchange server permit and see what happens.
