A port on one of our 3COM switches is being reported as down.I have checked this port and it is working just fine. How do I clear this message?
Node status is Up, 'Ethernet1/0/6' is Down.
Thanks!
Here is a sample of what you should see when using the MIB Browser in the IF MIB.
So two things to check
1. could be it was down and Orion has not polled again yet so when you looked at the device it was already back up, but since Orion had not polled yet, it showed as down still. If this has been this way for say 30 mins
then I would
2. walk the IF-MIB, what does it show for that interface as that is what we are looking at.
I did run a Poll Now hours ago with no change.Walk the IF-MIB?Sorry, I'm new to this. Could you explain how to do this?
If you have a copy of engineers toolset from us or any other program that allows you to do a mib walk, what you can do is walk the interfaces mib or IF MIB and that is where we are getting alot of the stats for interfaces. It could be there is a bug in the vendors SNMP implementation and it is not updating the MIB properly
I donwloaded the Engineers Toolset Eval and did a MIB walk of the switch. It produced a 14,000 record text file. What am I looking for?
It turns out the link, discovered with ConnectNow, was causng the port to report as down. It all started when we disconnected the PC, connected to this port. As soon as I removed the link from the switch to the PC (using Network Atlas), the port is no longer reporting as down.
Hi deflint--
Are you taking advantage of Orion's Scheduled Discovery feature? It will address the issue you mentioned.
