APM License

Hi All,

We purchased 50 components Lic for APM, we show that when we used the already configured template of Microsoft SQl that it takes more than 30 components, so we couldnt monitore other applications, Is there is any solution or workaround to mimize the required license, or we should use these templetes always so we should buy new licenses...

If you aren't planning to upgrade the license then you should be able to delete components that don't give you valuable data. I'd recommend creating a copy of the template then modifying the copy - That way if you eventually do increase the license the original is still there. On the edit screen you'll see Rename/Test/Delete buttons for each component.

We have templates with 20-30 components and only ever receive alerts on 1 or 2 of the components. The data gathering for the rest is valuable for us, but reducing component count on each application to allow you to monitor more applications might be better for your environment.

As a possible alternative to copying the default template and deleting components to reduce your license count would be to keep the default template as-is and simply disable the component monitors you don't want. Disabled component monitors don't count against your license count. This makes it easier should you decide you want to start monitoring these components in the future when/if you upgrade your license. Disabling the component monitors at the template level will leave these components disabled when assigned to a node, so when/if you get a larger license size you can simply re-enable the component monitors you want from the master template and each node the template is assigned to will inherit this change and automatically start collecting data. This also prevents you from losing historical data if you were ever to remove your customized template with deleted/removed component monitors to assign the original default template. Disabled is the preferred option over deleting component monitors in my opinion.
