Problems with Alerts in version 8.0.1

I'm having two problems:

-First of all when I made the upgrade to version 8.0.1 the advanced alerts are not working anymore.

The alert service engine can't be initialized and when I try to start the service manually I receive errors in the event viewer with the Event id 7000 and 7009.

The other one is in my other Orion server that still runs version 7.8. I received the following message before Orion hangs up:

- This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose Switch to, Retry or Cancel to activate the busy program and correct the problem.

After that I need to restart the server to make Orion works again. Please if somebody knows how to solve the problems please let me know.

I had same problem. After talking to several times with Solarwinds techs, I was still not able to resolve my issue. Since I had to move the SolarWinds application to new windows 2003 new server (database is on separate MS SQL server), it solved my problem.

One of the thing was discussed was to disable the anti virus software because that was the only thing I saw in my server’s event logs. I am still not sure if that was the cause for this problem.
