NTA 4.2.4 Loses connection to database

i haven't opened a ticket yet but wanted to knwo if anybody else was seeing this issue. We keep losing the connection to the database. This is the error message I get.

Connection to NTA Flow Storage Database has been lost. NTA cannot save any flows now

I can restart the database server and it restores the connection. Then after a few days it drops it again. This only started happening when we upgraded to NPM 12 and NTA 4.2.4

Yeah, I just upgraded to NPM12 and NTA 4.2 as well. Running into same issue whereas the NTA stops collecting data after about 3 days of running. On the phone with Support and restarting Flow services as well as Config Wizard on NPM server. This wasn't an issue until after the upgrade..

I just reboot the NTA Flow Storage DB server and things come back up, that way there's no disruption to the GUI/other Orion components which would happen if you go down the config wizard path.

I have had to reboot 2 times since the conversion to NPM 12 and NTA 4.2 yesterday.

Opened a support ticket but they don't seem to have an answer yet. I am having to reboot the database server at least once a day.

We have a temporary fix for this while we continue to solve the larger issue. Your Support contact should be able to provide you with additional details, if not please let me know and I can work directly with folks to get them the fix.

I have this issue too. It did not start until I upgraded to NTA 4.2.I run NPM/Orion on a Windows 2012 R2 server and NTA on a separate 2012 R2 server. When I first upgraded to NPM 12 I did not upgrade NTA and did not notice the disconnect. Once I upgraded to NTA 4.2 within a day I had lost the netflow service connection.

We have had a case open about this issue for many weeks (1000482) and have never heard about a fix. We are only being asked for diagnostic logs.

It has been happening to me every other day since I upgraded last week. Will there be a hotfix/patch released to address this issue, or should I open a ticket?

So far I haven't had a disconnection in two days. Not sure why as nothing has changed. I do have a ticket open and Solar Winds has been really good with working with me.

I have case # 1012020 opened for the same issue. I always have to reboot main poller for it to work again. Today is offline again .. showing "Data is not Available"

Hi Jeff, I was able to open a ticket on Monday, case # 1011678. I also pointed the technician to this thread to follow the updates.

The issue occurred again last night.

We had to reopen our ticket as the losing connections started again but now it seems to happen after three to four days.

FYI, I've only had to restart the Netflow Storage Service on the NTA Database Server to get it to start working again.

So far, since upgrading NPM/NCM/NTA last Thursday I've had to restart the service 3 times. Interestingly the service isn't stopped, it just isn't accepting connections from the Orion Server anymore? For me, the Netflow Storage service logs don't show any activity at all around the time it stopped working at the default logging levels. I increased logging to DEBUG level and that logs constantly as flows are received, but it hasn't stopped working since I increased the logging level... If I ever got a log of it happening I was going to open a support ticket.

Of similar note I noticed that the Alert for 'NTA Backup Failed' alert continuously triggers. I got about 800 emails between Saturday night and Sunday morning from it...At least I couldn't miss it :-P

I'm seeing this issue as well every few days.

I have case # 1016818 for this.

Support was able to install a "Buddy Drop" on our Flow DB server as a temporary fix until a hotfix is released for this.
