features missing in NCM 6.0

I was wondering if any progress has been made in adding some features that would make NCM more useful. I would REALLY love to be able to copy rules and reports and I see that has been requested. Any idea on when it will be implemented?

It would also be nice if I could export results in a format that was easy to manipulate. Seeing a report in html or a PDF file is all well and good but being able to manipulate it would make my life a lot easier. My company doesn't like to put desktop apps like Excel on servers so I can't export to Excel. Exports to a text file or exports to a comma delimited file don't work because the export doesn't know what to do with the colored LED output so it ignores the LED symbols, leaving me with a bunch of useless commas or quotation marks and no data. Anybody got a workaround for that?

Hi Dan - I don't know if you've seen the What We Are Working On - post - but the copying will be covered in what we're working on now. As far as importing and exporting - what sort of solution would be ideal for you? I'll make sure to track that as a feature request.

Hey Christine, thanks for the reply.

The easiest way to solve MY problem would be to fix the "Export to Comma Delimited File" or "Export to Text File" functions. As I mentioned in my post, when exporting the results of a Policy or a Report, I get commas with spaces in between them if I use Comma Delimited and I get quotation marks with commas separating them if I use Text. (I am running these from the Policy Reporter program on the server, it's faster than using the web browser). I assume the empty spaces are where the little red, yellow and blue icons would go IF the icons were exportable to text, which they aren't. How about, in text exports, replacing the icons with letters; like I for Informational, W for Warning and C for Critical. That way I'd get useful output that I could use in Excel without having to put Excel on my server (thereby incurring the wrath of the "Server Gods").
