Problems connecting the Netwok Performance Monitor and Database Manager on Orion 9

Hi all,

I have problems with Solarwinds NPM Orion in try to connet the database SQL 2005 Express and also the Database Manager, i get a windows saying Access Denied be sure that the server has full access rights to the client, dones any one append this before, at this time i test the software to get a licence to implement this in my work.

This could be a permissions issue. The Database Manager requires an SA account. The SA account is used during installation AND upgrading + utilizing the database manager.

Hi Mark,

At this time i Test the Software Orion and i can connet now with the Network Performace Monitor with the Database and runns very nice, but when i try to find the custom mib pollers i can find it in the menu of this trial version 9 ??

I saw in other versions in other company and have the same trouble they have the SLX Licence but they can not add MIBs from his equipments.When you buy this software can i configure the MIBs form my equipments ?

You are having trouble importing MIBs?

You cannot, however, import MIBs directly into the Orion NPM MIB database. The Orion poller import mechanism does, however, allow you to import the association of a MIB with a Universal Device Poller. The poller can then be associated with a device in your environment. Use the following procedure to import a Universal Device Poller.

To import a Universal Device Poller:

1. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Universal Device Poller.

2. Click File > Import Universal Device Pollers.

3. For each poller you want to import, complete the following steps:

a. Click Open.

b. Navigate to the location of the poller to import.

c. Select the poller to import.

d. Click Open.

4. Select the pollers to import from the list on the left, and then click Import.

5. If you want to remove a selected poller from the list of pollers to import, click the poller to remove, and then click Remove.

Notes:

•	To select multiple pollers, use Shift+click and Ctrl+click.

•	To collapse all folders and see just the group names, Shift+click the - next to any of the group names.

6. Click OK.

7. If you want the imported poller to begin polling immediately upon assigning network devices, complete the following steps:

a. Select your new, imported poller in the All Defined Pollers pane on the left of the Orion Universal Device Poller window.

b. Click Edit Properties.

c. Confirm that Enabled is selected as the poller Status,

8. If you do not want the poller to begin polling immediately upon assigning network devices, complete the following steps:

a. Select your new, imported poller in the All Defined Pollers pane on the left of the Orion Universal Device Poller window.

b. Click Edit Properties.

c. Select Disabled as the poller Status,

Note: If you select Disabled, the poller will not collect statistics until you enable the poller.

9. Assign nodes or interfaces to the imported poller.

Also if the MIBss are not the MIB database you will need to have SolarWinds compile the MIBs to be placed into our MIB database.

Hi Mark,

The situation is like this, I need to define a MIBs from one of my Equipment AiBadger SXR in order to get envoirment alarmas at this time i get the alarms into a HP Open View application but its no be practical for me, so i see this tutorial

And i think that i can migrate this Alarms to one aplication in this case SolarWinds Orion in order to see only one application to see all my network. This equipment that i pretend to monitor have configured allready alarmas like. open door, high temperature, Generator on, etc this MIBs is that i need to see in Orion.

Also some of my people ask me if this application can monitoring BGP ?? which module do i need to see BGP and MPLS ?? Can do it ?

Also please contact me to a sales representative in Mexico in order to get some information about cost of this software.

Where would I find the poller to import? Above, where you state: 3 b. Navigate to the location of the poller to import. , where is that location? Do you mean that I can download MiBs and import them as pollers?

In other words, what is an imported poller and where would I find them?
