Multiple EOC's and database sync

We have 2 EOC servers, one a primary and the other a standby. A couple of questions....

1) Is it possible to point both EOC servers to the same database? If so is this a good idea?

2) If each has its own database is it possible to keep both EOC servers synchronized?

3) Is it possible to import users and other settings from one EOC to another or do I have to manage each one seperately?

1)  Although it is possible, this isn't a good idea.  Having a live standby poller, would cause a lot of locking contensions on the EOC database.  Further, it would also add a lot more strain on the Orions that are being polled.  If you stop the "SolarWinds EOC Services Host" service on the standby, then you could avoid this issue, but then you'd have to manually start the service, of course, when the primary went down.  (Probably not very useful for you)

2) No, it would be a manual process for you.  I suppose that it could all be done all in T-SQL jobs, but it would only be safe for you to synchronize only when the "EOC Services Host" services were stopped both on the primary and on the backup.

3) Without your own form of synchronization (which I'm not recommending), you'd have to manage each one separately.

 

Note: Having an EOC standby poller has been a request in the past, and product management has even had me research possible solutions here for the future, so expressing your desire for this feature is something that I'll let them know about.
