Here is the recap of my NPM upgrade for those still pondering the upgrade.
Stats for my environment:
- 8000 nodes
- 64808 total elements
- 26266 interfaces
- 30875 volumes
- 10 Additional Polling Engines
- 2 Additional Web Servers
- DPA Integration
- VMAN Integration
What we were running:
- NPM 11.5.2 HF6
- SAM 6.2.2
- UDT 3.2.2
- SRM 6.2
- DPA 10
- NTA 4.1.2
- NCM 7.4
- VNQM 4.2.2
- WPM 2.2
So - the upgrade took approximately 2 hours for NPM. Huge improvement over an average of 3.5 - 4 hours before. One glitch in the process was one polling engine failed to make it through the upgrade wizard and we ended up migrating all the nodes to other polling engines until morning. Solarwinds was able to assist me to get that polling engine back up and running this morning. We also have an issue with the new F5 relationship maps where all our virtual server links to the virtual server details pages are invalid and throw a UI error. I have a case open for that too. These two issues are a little frustrating, but compared to 11.5 - this was a cake walk.
Overall SolarWinds - I say good job. The new UI is very good. Performance is better. I wish the upgrade would have went off without a hitch, but our environment is fairly complex.
Good luck!
