Orion and Cirrus sharing databases?
skaczkowski
Is it possible for Orion and Cirrus to share a database? I know the long term plan is to integrated the two products, but who knows when that'll be and having to manage seperate DBs for what more or less are the same devices is kinda silly...
Just curious..
Thanks!

At the moment, no. Both have tables with the same names but with different contents.
In the case of the Nodes table for example, the NodeID is formed completely differently.

Ahh.. Thought so..
Hmmm.. Well, anyone have problems running Orion and Cirrus off the the DB server? Initially we're thinking about putting Orion and Cirrus on the same machine but have a shared DB server, both of which will be pretty beafy boxes.
We're probably looking at managing ~2000 nodes in both Cirrus and Orion just to give you an idea of scale..
Thanks!

FYI-
I'm running about 500 devices, both Orion and Cirrus, with SQL, all on one box. Dual Processor 3.0Ghz and 4GB RAM. CPU is less than 10% and memory is steady at 65%. You can never have too much memory. On large reports it craps out.

We have both our Orion and Cirrus DB on the Same SQL Cluster
2.8Ghz Dual Core, 8GB Ram 64-bit SQL. The application parts are on a separate dedicated box.
This cluster serves several other databases besides Orion and never gets above 30% CPU utilization. We have about 5,0000 elements in Orion. About 60 nodes in Cirrus.
