Top 5 protocols vs Top 10 endpoints... different total bandwidth % usage

When looking at bandwidth usage graphs today, I noticed that 2 of them showed very different results.

I would expect to see the same total bandwidth used.  If anything, I would expect the "top 10 endpoints" graph to show less usage since there are more than 10 hosts behind the router.

 

Can anyone explain why these are so different?

Hello tylerlucas,

I see that in your screenshot the Top Endpoints resource shows approximately two times more traffic then Top Protocols resource. I understand your concerns about correctness of displayed data but this is actually expected results. Each packet going trough router has its source and destination  (means two endpoints are involved in the communication), but just one protocol is used – so this is the reason why you can see such a difference (for comparable results use Top Transmitters or Top Receivers resource).
