Just wondering if we can get the duplex of an interface to show within the interface details? It just would be nice to have an at-a-glance view in the interface details. I know a custom poller is possible but it isn't as fluent.
Depending on your use case, UDT might be worth checking out, see here. If this is overkill for what you are wanting to ultimately do, then UnDP is going to be the best route.
It doesn't make sense to jump to another product component (UDT) to determine the duplex mode of a single interface. Likewise, creating a UnDP and adding a UnDP resource showing only one value (duplex mode) to the Interface Details view and wating valuable page real estate doesn't make good sense either. Duplex mode is the only key piece of interface data missing from the Interface Details and it's just natural for it to be incliuded as part of the Interface Details resource. This is not a big code effort.
I agree, to get native support within Orion for viewing the duplex shouldn't be an entire module.
I have quite a few feelings againts UDT as it is. Back when Network Config Manager 6.0 came out, it was advertised as having the ability to track devices, I never got it to work right and now a year later there is a different module that comes out with the features that was supposed to be apart of NCM 6.0 for an extra cost? I understand if you want to break it off but the individuals that bought NCM 6.0 should be grandfathered into that module.
I also just installed the demo of UDT to try it out and it doesn't work right, it won't allow me to manually identify the layer three devices for my switches so it isn't able to accurately identify all the hostnames and IP's for over half of my devices.
Hi Ericn84--
Your post would be better suited for the UDT forum where you could get an answer to your issue. Please consider posting it there.
