WebUI Error

After login I get the following error-

I get the same error after upgrading from cirrus 4.1

Local works fine.

We definitely want to get to the bottom of this because clearly it's not an environment-specific issue with 2 of you seeing the same thing.

Can you both please open support tickets for this issue? We're going to need to work with you to get the appropriate logs and troubleshoot this further.

This error occurs because the account the website is running under does not have access to the key-store that contains an encryption key needed to parse some encrypted information in the config file.

By default the website runs under the context of the "Network Service" account which normally has access to the key-store.

So now the question is why we are getting this errors in this scenario. Two possibilities come to mind

1. Is the web site running in the context of Network Service account? To check this you can go to IIS, open the properties for NCM website, see what Application Pool the site is running under. Open the properties of that Application Pool and see what Identity that App Pool uses. By default Network Service should be selected. If it's not, then try selecting that and save the settings. Restart IIS and try again. That may resolve the issue.

2. If the site is running under "Network Service" context then it is possible that the access to key store was removed. To reassign permissions to allow Network Service account access to the key store run the following command from the .net Framework folder <%WINDOWS%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727>
aspnet_regiis -pa "NetFrameworkConfigurationKey" "Network Service"

Let us know if that resolves the issue. If not please open tickets with Support.

changed the app pool identity to "Network Service" and it worked like a charm !

That gave me a login screen (NCM service won't start), but it also broke Orion web interface. I've had a ticket open since 9/29/08. I've pretty much given up on tech support and Cirrus working via the web.

I've fixed the service not starting. After logging in NCM, I get a new error-
