Suggestion for NCM demo site.

It would be cool to see a set of windows servers on the NCM demo site. It sounds like it will do what we want in regards to inventory, but I'm not sure how the configuration management and tracking would relate to the server platform.

Thanks for the post. NCM is really a network config management product (versus server config management), so we intentionally left off Windows servers so as to avoid any confusion. That said, it does provide some basic inventory capabilities for Windows servers as you noted and some customers are using it for this purpose along with their network devices.

Denny actually suggested NCM for windows inventory after my attempts at writing a custom report out of NPM with bunch of UnDP's to get inventory information from varous (hp/ibm/dell) servers.

NCM makes more sense as a place to keep the inventory function, as I don't want or need to 'monitor' the inventory stats on my servers. However, as a server guy, it's tough for me to sell NCM to my management, whereas I can work NPM and APM as being significantly server-centric.

Anyway, no specific requests here, just sharing my viewpoint to help make future releases better. ipMonitor and NPM are working great for us, APM is looking good in eval, and we'll definitely keep Solar Winds around.
