I am new to the product. I need to set up monitoring when services are down for Sametime meeting server and Lotus Notes Domino Server? It is running on a Windows 2003 Server. Any starting point is appreciated. Running APM 4.2.0.
Probably the best place to start would be to create a new Application Template for these applications. APM does include a wizard for creating new application templates or adding component monitors to existing template for the most common types of component monitors. This wizard can be found under <Settings -> APM Settings -> Find Processes, Service & Performance Counters>. Since you're primarily interested in services, select "Windows Service Monitor" from the pull down list. When you click next chose the node running Sametime or Domino and provide valid administrative windows credentials. When you click "next" again a listing of all services running on that host should be displayed. You can select which services you want to monitor and create a new application template and assign it to any node running this application.

latergator, we are beginning to implement Sametime (and some other related IBM solutions), would you be interested to share what types of templates you implemented?
I was going to write one to monitor the system.out for last date/time of the synchronization (for the propagation of configs). We're a linux shop so what we need may differ slightly.
