Create a custom field in a NCM change

So our company has now started leveraging Jira as our CMDB for projects within our networking group. Our managers would like to have a and option custom field for our configuration backups to link back to the Jira project. Is there a way to create such field for certain node config backups in NCM?

You can attach custom properties to nodes but not to individual configurations.

Well that stinks. I was hoping to be able to attach a project URL to a recent change that relates to a config backup.
