problem with SNMP
aguiabranca
First I ask for excuses for my English, am Brazilian and analyst of Support of Nets in a company in the branch of transports.
I am with the following problem: I do not obtain to add some Servers in our net in Orion NPM for monitoramento. The message that occurs in the attempt of the inclusion of the server is the following one: ambar does not respond to SNMP queries using "AguiaBranca". Ambar is our server, aguiabranca is the name of ours community. Already I conferred the configurations of service SNMP of the server and all the configurations are correct. Already desinstalei and I installed service SNMP of the Windows and remade all the configurations in its service, but without success. Somebody could help me?

Fernando,
As community strings are case sensitive I assume you have already checked this and there are no firewalls between the Orion server and the Target server.
You may have implemented "trusted" hosts for SNMP on your servers, (I think on W2K3 this may be on by default, with the only address allowed being itself i.e. 127.0.0.1!)
To check this, open up services on your server, select the SNMP Service from the list, select the "security" tab. This should display not only your snmp community strings, but also which addresses the server can accept SNMP requests from.
If the option "Accept SNMP requests from these hosts" is checked, simply add in the IP address of your Orion server.
You'll probably have to stop/start the service for this to come into effect.
Hope this helps?

Olá Friend.
Grateful for its postagem.
The configuration informed in service SNMP that reported is ok. For that I observed, our server of destination is with problems to send traps for the origin. I installed ORION NPM in another serving test and configured of service SNMP of the destination (Traps address of the origin, community, etc.). Exactly thus the problem persists. As much the origin and the destination answer to the command ping.
