Use policy report function to verify serial numbers???

Is anyone familiar enough with the NCM Policy Report tool to accomplish a serial number comparison report?

What I am trying to acheive is to run a nightly report which looks at the current serial numbers (chassis ID) and compare those to previously stored values. It 'seems' like it is possible but not sure how to go about it.

Any ideas would be welcomed.
