Map Maker issue after hotfixes

I upgraded to 8.1 last night, and applied hotfixes 1-6 but I am having a problem when launching Map Maker. It hangs and goes non-responsive for about 8 minutes before I can actually see my nodes and maps. Once it opens, performance is fine.

I found 2 SWDiscoverServices8.dll files on my system. One in c:\program files\solarwinds\common and one in e:\program files\solarwinds\common (Orion is installed to E)

The file in C has a date/time of 2/21/2006 3:39 while the file on E has a date/time of 2/21/2006 1:39

The properties of the DLL list the same file version and same product version

Do I need to copy the DLL from C to E ?

I only have one copy of Mapmaker.exe and the version is 8.0.0.14 with a date/time of 2/28/2007 and 6:15 PM

I also Have Cirrus and the Engineer Tollset installed on this server.

The problem you note here is what hotfix 5 was intended to address. Try copying the dll from C to E and see if that fixes the problem.

Did you try copying the DLL from C: to E:? If so did it make any difference? I am in the same situation, upgraded to 8.1 + all hot fixes but Map Maker still takes an age to load. I also have orion installed on my E: drive.

I tried copying the DLL, but I'm still having the problem. I have opened up a support case.

I have two pollers. One of which is also the App server. (as well as Cirrus and EE toolset 8.x) I have about 540 Nodes and about 11000 elements in the DB. I think I probably have about 100 maps.

They asked about the stats of our App server. It is a dual 3.6 Ghz P4 w/ 3.5 GB of RAM running Windows 2003

If anyone is still watching this thread.....

I just got what is essentally hotfix 5a from Solarwinds support. It's an additional dll, a new Mapmaker.exe and a bat file to register the new DLL (and the obligatory readme)

I'm glad to report that approximately 95 maps and 500+ objects loaded in less than 2 seconds.

I'm not sure if this will be a publicly available fix or not, but I want to publicly thank the Solarwinds support staff involved in fixing this issue. (although I don't know all their names)
