Device Template - Cisco IOS-XE

Question

I have two types of switches that NCM is not able to create an SSH session: Catalyst 9500-40X and a 9348-T. I have tried the Device Profile Cisco IOS, used for most of our equipment, and another one modified for Nexus gear. Nether profile works. The only error I see is Connection Refused. These are new Cisco switches. Any thoughts?

hey, just stumble across this post, probably you have already sorted this out. But if any out run into the same issue. Just make sure the switch have "hmac-sha2-256" added on mac algorithm for ssh access. Otherwise it would be using hmac-sha2-512, which solarwind doesn't support (same goes to putty).

Go to the NCM settings > Advanced and turn on session traces and then try to download a config from one of these devices.  It creates a log file with a pretty detailed output of what exactly the Solarwinds saw in it's conversation with your device.  It's a little dense to understand the first time you look at it, but worst case you can open a support case with that log and they will most likely be able to help you figure out the cause.
