Textual value with SNMP Monitor

Hello,

i'm currently evaluating Orion APM and i want to monitor some OID value wich are not numeric but textual. When i test on a node it give me that result:

"Testing on node the_node: failed with 'NotAvailable' status
Can't convert the textual value to numeric type."

Is there any way to monitor these kind of OID?

Hi,

it is not possible to monitor non-numerical values with APM, you would not be able to apply threshold, create graph etc. Why would you like to monitor such value?

I just wanted to know if it was possible. I don't need to monitor them (no graph, no stats), only display.

For instance, i want to display the slots name of a switch or some OID from the HOST-RESSOURCE Mib.

Have you considering creating a UnDP poller for this? UnDP poller support text values of an OID.

UnDP's will work for this but that requires NPM. I think he is only evaluating APM.
