SAM Hardware Monitor Disappearing From Servers

When we updated to SAM 5.0.1, I did Discoveries of severeal of our main server subnets. After doing so, the SAM Hardware Monitors were added to all of those Dell physical servers. This was done about a month ago. I just started noticing that many, if not all, of those servers are now missing the Hardware information. When I do a "List Resource" on any of those servers, the "Hardware Health of Servers" checkbox is un-checked. If I re-check it, SAM finds all the info & I have all the hardware resources displayed again.

My question is, why would the SAM Hardware information all of a sudden disappear? Is this a known issue?

We have not seen any customers report hardware health monitoring suddenly/unexpectedly becoming un-selected/checked. Is it at all possible that this wasn't enabled on this node or that someone else in your organization could have disabled it? Another possibility is that the node was removed and then re-added without hardware health monitoring selected.

I would ask that you look at the included "Current - Hardware Status" Report and print the result. Then compare this to the same report run a day/week later to see if any nodes that used to have Hardware Health Monitoring enabled are missing from the report.

I'm certain that the hardware monitors were added after doing a network discovery of an entire /24 network.I don't have a previous report to compare with unfortunately.I'm going to re-run the discovery & see if that re-adds the SAM Hardware monitors.

This just keeps getting better. I ran a new Network Discovery for one of our major server subnets and during the scan, it shows that there were 100+ nodes discovered. However, at the end of the scan, it only found like 7 servers. It is my understanding that this is the quickest way to add Hardare Monitoring to a large number of nodes. The alternative would be to do a "list resouce" on each node & check the box, which would be extremely time consuming.

Correct. Please note that this must be an active discovery, and not a scheduled discovery for Hardware Health to be detected. You must also accept the results of the discovery for these hardware health items to be applied. They're is currently no visual indicator to disable hardware health monitoring through discovery, simply accepting the results of the discovery process is sufficient to begin monitoring hardware health on the nodes it was discovered on. Also keep in mind that the appropriate hardware vendor supplied agent software must be installed on the server. If you're able to see the hardware health option when listing resources on that node, then it should also be detected through discovery.

*necro thread bump* Just ran into this same issue after applying the most current Orion Platform and NPM hotfixes to our environment. Unfortunately this is the only thread I could really find for a similar issue. I don't see any rhyme or reason on the nodes it decided to remove the hardware health monitors from.

Edit: I take that back, there does seem to be a pattern. It seems like it got removed from all the servers that were polling using the Agent.
