SolarWinds export to CMDB

Hi all, I need to see if I am correct with this assumption. I need to link the SW database to my companies CMDB, I believe its called Spyder. I assume I need to get to work with the SDK/API for SW to make this happen? Thanks!!!

^ Probably, but there might also be direct SQL to SQL database options available like setting up a linked database between Orion and Spyder. I'd actually say that linked DB is likely to be the simplest if you have in house sql knowledge more readily available than REST API skills.

Yep, for me learning SQL was an important stepping stone toward the API stuff. Since ultimately I still needed to know how to do SQL/SWQL to get anything significant done there.

For anyone who does go the API route this is a sanitized example of a script to set node custom properties based on the attributes of a CI record in Service Now CMDB. Keep in mind it would need a lot of tailoring to actually match any specific environment, but the bones are there to flesh it out. Would need to change the connection details but it shouldn't be too hard to retrofit to any CMDB with an API.

Great Script @mesverrum, currently I am converting our Service Now integration to the CMDB from a job that Service now pulls a SWQL result from Orion to a push where I dump into an import table into SN via rest. Just getting started though.
