How to create a custom alert for link status

Hi All,

I Plan to monitoring status link administrative on interface router.

But I have some problem when I create custom alert for link status.

Could you please to give me some example how to create a custom alert for lonk status?

Please suggest.

first of all, it would be best if you opened your own threads for your questions if they are not related to the original thread!Nonetheless, one possibility is to give those devices a custom property, e.g. "Purpose" then you write LAN or WAN or whatever in that property for those devices and filter your alert on that, just alert on response time above 100ms AND Purpose equal to LAN

this is fairly simple, you have to open the advanced alert manager and create a new alarm, select to alert on interfaces and then select interface status, you can then choose which status you want to alert on!

the NPM administrators guide or some tutorial videos (for example the one on advanced alerting) might be a good thing to look at to start working with orion.

Thanks for your reply. I understand what you mean, we can monitoring interface status up or down if we using interface status.

But I want to monitoring the link status while it is up or down not physically interface.

Any suggest.

I am not sure if this is what you want to do or if you have fixed the problems but here is what I am doing.

We have a VLAN that is used for trunking to the building and is used for MGMT of the network devices. I am monitoring that VLAN for UP or DOWN status, not the actual interface. That way the physical link can be on any interface, and the status of the VLAN goes up or down based on the LINK status.
