How to flag selected interfaces for monitoring using SQL

Hello

- in medium to large network, no question of selecting all interfaces during discovery process even whith NPM unlimited license.

- noway to select interafces one by one for each device either.

Probably someone faced this issue before me and I would appreciate if someone could help with the SQL statement(s) to flag the selected interfaces for a list of devices provided there is some schema by which the required interfaces can be identified.

Any hint will be highly appreciated.

Are the interfaces already in the database? You can use the SDK to (un)manage the interfaces if they are already in the database.

If they are not in the database, we are working on a version of the SDK where can add them using the write SDK.

I did not yet start the implementation.

Note: IT Mgr is not willing to add pollers to discover all interfaces, he only wants to monitor selected interfaces as described before with his XL NPM.

I was wondering if an SQL UPDATE statments on dbo.Interfaces reading from a CSV file with in each line: sysName, InterfaceName, UnManaged (Falg 0/1) --> to be loaded as a temporary table/View then SQL UPDATE.

unfortunately not. it might be useful for other purpose

it has to read sequentially from a text file, the suggested script passes a fixed parameter as 3rd argument that not apply to my case.

I have this same issue. Any progress on an API where we can feed the switch IP and interfaces we want monitored?

Right now I'm trying to bastardize a new dbo.Nodes and dbo.Interfaces table to have all my Nodes and associated interfaces that I want monitored without manually adding them all thru the (slow) GUI. They're in and the referential integrity is in place between NodeID but there are other tables that aren't updating. I'm hoping tonights DB maintenance cleans it up....(just loaded them today).
