What does Interface 'NTA Virtual Interface 65535' has state: Unknown mean/refer to?
Is this something I should be concerned about and if so how would I remedy this error?
Thanks,
Todd
Hi Todd,
every NTA virtual interface has an unknown state, because it is not a real interface on device, thus status cannot be obtained. Purpose of NTA virtual interfaces is to enable receiving and processing flow data even if device is sending non-existing interface index in flow data. Usually interface index 65535 is used on Cisco ASA devices.
I'm having the same issue. I see a lot of events like:
NetFlow Receiver Service [<Poller_Name>] is receiving flow data from unmanaged interface '#56050' on <Node_name> and it does not support SNMP. Click the "Add this interface" to manage interface and process its flow data.
The device in question is a Cisco 2921. We have configured the flow exporters to use Lo0, which is the IP of the node in SolarWinds. This device is also responding to SNMP (I can view the MIB table of this device in SolarWinds).
I'm not sure what else to check to remove these erroneous events...
