NCM Disable Backup and not show as "Not Backed Up"

Hello,

I have a node (Linux box) that I need to run a script on nightly, easy enough to schedule and execute the job. However is there any way I can ensure that the device doesnt show up in "Devices Not Backed Up", "Overall Devices Backed Up vs. Not Backed Up" etc? I know I can create a exclusion on the backup job (running and startup) to exclude the node thought there will still be no configuration there, so wont it show up as Unknown?

Any Ideas?

Hi Peter,

One possibility would be to limit the Config Summary page to certain nodes only.

Use Customize Page (top right corner) -> View Limitation and you can exclude this Linux box.

In this way, this node will disappear from the Config Summary page at all.

The other possibility is to use NCM to back up configs from your Linux box as well. Although NCM is not primarily designed to back up Linux servers, it is also possible: .

Yea I could use a Limitation but it would block out more than the I need to (I have a screen for morning checks), if the node was down it would be excluded and hidden from view if I used a Limitation.

Unfortnatly there is no config file (its a Checkpoint Management Station). I guess I could backup /etc/hosts or something to give it a file?

If you are not interested in the backup at all, you can create a new device template, point e.g. running config to /etc/hosts and use indirect config download (TFTP or SCP) -- see the thread in my previous answer.
