Can't Configure Netflow on Managed Physical interface

I am trying to configure Netflow on my Cisco 6500. Lets say on that access to the WAN/Internet is coming through Gig 4/1 interface. Why is it that I am not able to set the command ip route-cache flow? Is this because it is or isn't a managed interface? If so how do I fix this problem; if I make it a mgmt. or unmanged interface would the network lose access to the router or any other negative effects ? Also, currently I have set up the ip route-cache flow command on our VLAN interfaces, and they work fine.

Cache flow cannot be configured on a L2 port. So if your interface is configured as a switchport then its not possible.
