NCM 6.1 Integration with Orion NPM 10.1.1

Hello Everyone,

I recently installed MCN 6.1, on the same server as our Orion NPM 10.1.1 product.

Ran the integration and it seemed to install fine, however,

When I try to navigate to the Admin page in the web console

I get a double Banner with an error stating to check the Url.

Apologize as I do not have access to the specific error at the moment, will post if requried.

I have followed the Administrators Guide documentation when installing the applications.

I have a couple of questions:

1) Can MCN 6.1 be integrated with NPM 10.1.1 on the same server?

2) I noticed after the install, I now have have two web server instances running in the

Serveices Manager. Is this correct?

3) During installation there is no option to NOT install the MCN web server,

I installed it with the same port numbers as NPM.

I also tried installing it again with another Port Number, it installs but I cannot get to the Admin page in the web console.

4) Should MCN be installed on the same Orion NPM SQL instance or a new MCN SQL instance?

I am thinking that this is how it should be installed, however the MCN install automatically wants to create a new SQL instance, ConfigMgmt. (This is not specifically clear in the docuementation).

Anyone have direct experience with integrating these two applications together seemlessly, this is my first time doing this, it is a little confusing?

What should I do to make these two applications work togther and play nicely?

Yes You can install on the same server and can integrate the website you need to run the NCM integration installer available with same zip file in NCM 6.1 on NPM server .

Yes Correct NCM and NPM will create separate websites since using separate DB so this is correct. both websites are running on different ports.

That might be the part of the problem. 

Both website cannot be run on one port . (have you installed the Integration software for NCM ?

NCM has its own DB and it will create by default ConfigMgmt and tis correct.

Its very easy . All you just need to install NCM integration software on the same server and it will run the NPM configuration wizard to join the both websites.

Now i would like you to check this first. 

 

Run the NPM configuration wizard and keep the port 80 for Website . 

Run the NCM Configuration wizard and keep the port 8080 for Website. 

Check the both website are up and running ? 

Both NCM / NPM webconsole can be open > Start > All programs > SolarWinds NCM or NPM 

or http://localhost:80 

http://localhost:8080 

Once you reaches this point you should be able to see the both website up and running. 

***Integration NCM with NPM***

Install NCM integration software available in NCM 6.1 installer zip. 

Follow the default wizard and reopen the NPM website you will see the Config Tab there. 

if it asked for Credentials . Click and add the NCM Administrator credentials to join this to NCM. 

Once this is joined you will be able to see the NCM website in NPM Config Tab
