UDP Port Monitor?

In APM I see a component monitor for a generic TCP port monitor but nothing for UDP with the exception of a DNS monitor.

I realize that TCP is going to be the more commonly used port monitor but it seems there shouldn't be any reason to not have a general UDP Port Monitor as well.

Thoughts?

With TCP, you can actually connect to the port to see if it's available. With UDP, you send data out, but there's no connection, so there's not really anything quite comparable.

So how can we monitor UDP ports in APM?

I tried using DNS component monitoring and changing the port to 514 but it didn't work. I am trying to monitor syslog info. port.
