NTA 3.8 Release Candidate - Available to all on Maintenance

The Release Candidate (RC) for NTA 3.8 is now available in your customer portal if you are a customer with active maintenance. Below is a short list of the main features and fixes in 3.8.

Although your product managers might have requested that any NTA resource can be placed on any page, unfortunately, that is not at all how it was executed. You cannot use any CBQOS resources on any other pages still and of all the aspects of this product that would be the most useful and seemless, that would be it. Since it is also 100% MIB2 derrived and one has the foreign key connection to NODES/Interfaces table you would think it would be straight forward. Can you please investigate as to how this was missed. As you may recall the only reason we were interested in NTA was for CBQOS. It's still appealing, but such a major investment to have this portion still be isolated is very problematic. I have already had to go through a lot of machinations and joins to get it working in Report as it's neither documented nor easy to execute.

Andrew is absolutely correct and we have a lot of room for improvement for CBQoS data in NTA.

As far as I can tell, you still can't add an NTA interface resource to a custom summary at all. In 3.7 the option was available but it didn't work; now the option is gone. I have a support case open on this that has been escalated to development.

The workaround that came back from development was to embed an iframe as a Custom HTML element, using a link to the desired NetFlow resource as the iframe source.

This works OK, although the graphs look a little funny.

could you please provide more information on what would you expect to see on CBQoS resources when they're places on node detail or summary view? Currently CBQoS resources are limited to interface details view, because one interface has one QoS policy. If it's placed on node details, would you like to see all policies and class maps from all interfaces? Or just Top 10 for example ordered by bytes as NetFlow resources? Apart from this, do you miss some CBQoS resource or information? What are the typical scenarios where you use CBQoS resources?

Hi Martin,

I think that the CBQOS resource is indeed tied to the Interface component. So, yes ideally it would be placed as a resource in the Interfaces detail page tied to that interface. However, a summary of CBQOS issues (Discards/Drops) would be a very useful view at the Node Details level as well. As you say a top 10 view.

Frankly, any way at all to tie this stuff in would be fine. Even if you gave us in the short term the right SQL or Solarwinds Special query to add as an IFRAME would be better than we have today.

Hey,

We're seeing issues with browsers locking up when trying to view any of the new interface improvements (search by Application Name etc). Tested with IE8 and Chrome.

Warja, can you provide a little more detail about the problems you are having? Is this when you use Flow Navigator or search? Does the browser completely lock up (totally non-responsive) or does it take forever to load and fail? A screenshot would be very helpful.
