hi
I had install NCM , & I want to authenticate users with TACACS .But I don't know how to do it ?
In NCM File Menu, if you Manage Users, you can provide each user's TACACS credentials there. In NCM Settings, make sure you have NCM Configured to use an individuals login credentials instead of per device.
I have NCM integrated with NPM with about 3500 Cisco network devices and we use TACACS for authentication. I have over 50 "Solarwinds" users, most of which have some form of access into NCM. Since the "admin console" for NCM is only accessible on the main server and RDP limits us on how many users can get into it, administering their TACACS accounts in NCM would be almost a full time position!
We use a TACACS account specifically for Solarwinds to pull down configs but it's limited to read-only (withing TACACS). When the time comes to push lots-o-changes to the devices, a TACACS admin changes the solarwinds TACACS account to be read/write and schedules the jobs in NCM. NCM offers auditing for the sake of who did what in NCM, which can be tied back to the changes made (and logged in TACACS). That keeps Orion user administration easier in our environment; very similar to SNMP V3 credentials; we all seem to share those within the Orion tools...
